Give Through Athletics

The Southwest Minnesota State University Athletics Department is a proud member of NCAA Division II and the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.  This site is designed to educate individuals about the goals, values, vision and various other projects that the SMSU Athletics Department believes is essential for student-athletes.

Over the past several years, Mustang student-athletes have continued to "raise the bar" in the classroom, showing their dedication and commitment to graduate from SMSU, while balancing a rigorous collegiate schedule. Over the past several years, SMSU student-athletes generated the highest cumulative GPA since our department moved to NCAA Division II in 1995-96.

Nearly 400 student-athletes are now competing in our 19 varsity sports and we are constantly seeking ways to enhance their overall experience. As recruiting the most promising and talented student-athletes continues to be our priority among our coaches, we must utilize our creativity and resources to assist our student-athletes in the classroom, on the playing fields and within the broader community.
